Kylie Reads Pablo Neruda

Ode to Enchanted Light
Pablo Neruda

Under the trees light
has dropped from the top of the sky,
light
like a green
latticework of branches,
shining
on every leaf,
drifting down like clean
white sand.

A cicada sends
its sawing song
high into the empty air.

The world is
a glass overflowing
with water.

  1. Kylie - I love how you pointed out the similes Neruda uses to describe how the sunlight looks. I'm very proud of your analysis of the poem as well. You understand that it is summertime because of all the evidence in nature that Neruda talks about in the poem. What type of figurative language do you think Neruda is using in the final stanza? - Mrs. Greason

  3. -Kylie I think that was awesome the way you read that poem! I agree with you when you said that the entire world is the glass and is overflowing with water. What I want to know is if you had any emotions while reading this poem;If so what emotions and why?

Kylie-I think you did amazing the way you read the poem.I agree with you about the theme that the world is the glass and the things living on the earth like us,bugs, flowers and more is the water because at the end of the poem the author said,"The world is over flowing with water."But there is this one thing. What did you imagine while you were reading the poem?-Sara
